We live in a time of many demands. There are demands on our time. There are demands for our attention. There are demands that we pick a side in a disagreement. Demands are a part of life. How we handle those demands is crucial to having a balanced life. We cannot do everything. We each have our own gifts. The body of Christ needs all of the spiritual gifts to be in full operation. If we submit to every demand on our time, if we succumb to every request for our attention, and if we divide our efforts into too many pieces, we cannot operate in excellence. God desires excellence. Excellence requires that we set our own pace as directed by God and not by those around us. This is not a sprint but a long distance race. We must pace ourselves. Find time to reflect, renew, and restore. It is not selfish. It is self care.
