Fall is finally arriving in the southeastern USA. We experienced record heat last week and now temperatures are moderating toward normal highs and lows. With this change in weather on the outside we should be certain we do not allow ourselves to cool off on the inside.
October starts a series of holiday celebrations. Some stores are adding Christmas decorations to store shelves. Other stores will add Christmas decor to the walls and windows by late October. The focus is on promoting shopping for family and friends. For Christians, however, the focus should be on Christ.
We are approaching a time of harvest, thanksgiving, and joy. Are we still hot on the inside to increase the harvest of souls for Christ or are we cooling off? While our celebrations may be filled with family, fun, and food, many will not be so blessed. There is still a need in our communities to help each other. More importantly, there is a continuing need to draw the unsaved to Christ Jesus. However you choose to celebrate the holidays this fall and winter, keep the fire burning within to reach the unsaved.
The harvest is ready. Go work the fields. Express the love of God in tangible ways. This world needs love so much.
