Today was an exceptionally hot day. This is the beginning of October. The weather should be cooling down. It should not have been 100 degrees today. It was an unusual day. However, we were not unprepared. Weather forecasters have warned of these unusually high temperatures for several days. The message was keep hydrated and keep cool. Many people heeded that advice and prepared for the day.
How many of us are preparing for eternal life? We know the day is coming when we will leave this earthly realm. Our bodies will return to dust but our souls will live eternally. What are we doing to prepare? The forecast is clear. Jesus is calling us to accept him as Savior and Lord so that our place in eternity will be assured.
There are no special hoops to jump through. There is just one true road to take. That road is through belief on who Jesus is. However, when we express belief in Jesus we also work to show others what we believe. All of our preparation for eternal life must include telling others that they must get prepared. It would be useless for the weather forecaster to know that excessive heat is coming in early October but not share that information. The lives of those who must work outside or who have special medical conditions are at stake when the weather forecaster does not share knowledge. We must do the same. We have to tell those who do not know about Jesus, and remind those who have accepted Jesus, who Christ Jesus is and what we believe about him. Lives are dependent on us getting ourselves and other people prepared.
