Genesis 18:9-14 (NRSV UE)
9 They said to him, “Where is your wife Sarah?” And he said, “There, in the tent.” 10 Then one said, “I will surely return to you in due season, and your wife Sarah shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent entrance behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in age; it had ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I have grown old, and my husband is old, shall I be fruitful?” 13 The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too wonderful for the Lord? At the set time I will return to you, in due season, and Sarah shall have a son.”
Nothing Is Too Hard For Our God
Miracles are still happening in this world. Healing is happening. Deliverance is transpiring. Folk who thought that there was no help for them are finding that God is speaking and acting in their situation.
We are not left alone. God sees and God knows. God does care about our situations. God’s love for us is so deep and so complete, that our distress does not please God, much like seeing children in distress is difficult for a Godly parent to endure.
When God works it out for us, it might not look like what we want but it will be exactly what we need. God knows what is best for us. Trust God to do what we think is impossible.
Sarah was too old to bear a son according to human standards. Yet, God’s word and God’s plan would be completed. What the world thought should be impossible God proved was absolutely possible when God speaks.
Whatever our situation is, listen for God to speak. Let God take control. Surrender to the will of God for the best possible outcome.
Let us pray for those struggling now and thinking that their situation is impossible to solve. Pray for those who heard a doctor say there is nothing more that can be done. Pray for someone who is out of work and desperate to find any type of employment. Petition God to help people we do not even know but who are at their wit’s end, not knowing what else to do.
Let us pray for people wondering when their troubles will end. Lift them up and encourage them to lean on the Lord, wait on the Lord, and know in their hearts that God is working things out. Pray with words uttered to us by the Holy Ghost. There is nothing too hard for God.
When we look around and wonder why our world is falling apart, pray knowing that God can put the pieces of broken lives back together. When our path is difficult and obstacles block the way, lift up our hand in praise and pray knowing God sees everything. God knows all about it.
Let our hearts not be troubled about too many problems of this world. Give these roadblocks, pitfalls, and stumbling blocks to God who does what the world considers impossible. Pray for the strength to persevere as we wait on the Lord to make the needed changes.
Pray knowing that nothing is impossible for God. There is no burden, no bad diagnosis, no job loss, no pay cut, no foreclosure on a home, no wayward child, no guilty verdict for the innocent, no lost loved one, and no attack from God’s enemy that God cannot handle. God is the master of all. God does the impossible. Let us pray.
